Two Teens Hunting for First Time Sponsored by WyoDoug

Well as of today, both boys received their first hunting rifles and ammo though direct donations of mostly HuntTalk members. Support is deeply appreciated but more still needed, mainly financial support for the hunt itself (gas, food, etc). Appreciate the support. Live hunt starts with a scouting run on September 19 with live hunt on September 20. I can't wait.

About a year ago, I posted that Aiden and Haven were taking Hunter Education. Shortly after, Doug Mewis reached out to me and asked if he could help sponsor the boys with their first rifles and even take them hunting.
Doug went above and beyond. He gathered a generous amount of donations for the boys and raised another $800 through HuntTalk toward the purchase of their rifles.
Tonight, he took the boys to Sportsman’s, and they were able to purchase TWO rifles AND ammo—and after all the donations, we only had to pay an additional $78 for everything!
The boys are grateful. They are SO excited, and we are incredibly thankful to Doug and everyone who donated and helped make this happen for them.
Now they’re officially geared up… here’s to their first antelope hunt in just a few weeks!

Well took Hayden out on his first hunt trip on Sept 20th for a day hunt. It gave him a taste of what it was about but being opening day of speedgoat season, we could not get close to tagging him out. We did see antelope but every single one was on private property that I did not have permission or was not sure of the ownership of the tract of land they were on. I will not hunt private without permission so we went on. On one of the scope sessions we did, I spotted a huge buck which had to be 14-16 tall. Typical of opening day of seasons before, the roads were packed with roadies though not as bad as last year. We had fun and it was a pleasure to show this boy around and give him a taste of what it was all about. Plan is now to take both teens with me this coming Saturday and Sunday. Hopefully most of the road hunters are missing in action.
