Turkey hunter missing in Colorado

Search on for missing hunter in Chaffee County - Alamosa Citizen

He had gone turkey hunting alone in the Mount Shavano area on Wednesday afternoon

Yikes - best thoughts to him and his family. I used to spend a fair amount of time on and around Shavano, never recall seeing turkeys up there but it’s been a while.

Oddly, I got a text from the HT’er formerly known as DouglasR a couple weeks ago from the top of Mt Shavano

Press release yesterday said they're still searching. They think he may have been wearing a ghillie suit which will make finding him more difficult.

Last update I saw from earlier today is that authorities have not yet found him & that he was wearing a green hoodie not a ghillie suit.

Some reports say his phone was dead and left behind in the car but do they know if it was dead when he left it there? Seems strange that a 27 year old would leave his phone behind in general, but also because most hunters in that age range use On-x.

Turkey hunting in the afternoon and leaving your phone in the vehicle seem odd. That TH is like 45min outside of town, so he couldn’t be going in more than a mile if he had that appt at 3:45

I’d assume he’d want a phone to take pics or use OnX/maps
