Truck Gun for Mountain Grouse

Currently have a really clean Winchester model 12 that's been modified into trap configuration. Pretty sure it started life as a 30" full choke field grade. As it sits has a Herter’s vent rib & upgraded wood. I think it's overkill for my planned use.

Wouldn't mind another older pump action but something lighter like a 20 or 28 gauge.

Any thoughts?

Mountain grouse = light & snappy gun. 26 inch tubes, open choked.

That model twelve is lovely, but not a truck gun. An 870 express or Benelli Super Nova in 20 gauge would be perfect for that life.

A well worn 870 Remington in 12 or 20ga.
Pretty good to keep in the truck for self defense too if you keep a few rounds of 00 buck or slugs.

Sure enough, every time I pick it up it just feels like a quality built piece. Stroke the action & it's rock solid.

The original bluing on the receiver is that deep purple blue that everyone raves about on the pre war guns.

They have a trap club here in my little NW Montana town, probably take it up there this spring & see if anyone is interested in it.
