Its that time of year. We are starting our fall league tonight. We've had a team for about 6 years now with a few members coming and going. For the last 2 years we've had a team that sticks together. seems we keep getting better and better. The embarrassing thing is our top gun is a 13 year old kid.

I shot trap league all through jr. high and high school, same 6-7 guys the whole time depending on what sport season it was at the time. It was great fun!

Our summer league is coming to an end. I was in 3rd place individual until our team handicap put me back to the 24 yard line and things went to hell really fast. Still lots of fun and I'm still shooting with the high school kids.

good luck to all
the dog

Ours starts next week. WE shot league this spring, and my average was about 18. Not where I'd like to be, but it's fun nonetheless.

It certainly helps me with hitting live birds.

The reason I first started shooting was for the practice. It sure makes a big difference. Now it turned into another hobby. We usually shoot our round and then fire up the grill and cook up some good food and have a few drinks.

I've been doing it for several years now and have found it is a great way to relax, IF you don't get too wound-up if you miss a bird or three. ;)

This thread brings back a lot of great memories from days past....Trapshooting is a great sport! Some of the best friends I have to this day, I met through trapshooting.

WOW looking at those scores I think your team is on another level. We shoot 2 rounds of 25. My goal is a minimum of 40 out of 50. If you read my previous post you can see that I screwed that up early this season. One of those deals where I knew right away I was shooting over the birds. Thing is the more I thought about it I could not correct it. Had a strong wind at our backs so when the bird come out it wouldn't rise much. My whole team had issues with that.

Our handicap so far this season is 20 yards. Our farthest in the past was 23. Its amazing how a few yards can make such a difference.

I use my duck gun to shoot. Its an Remington 870 wingmaster. I was told if I upgrade to a trap gun I would have better results. The real reason I shoot is for practice before bird season so I'm sticking sticking with what I hunt with.

Shoot what ya got! If your goal is to become a better wing shooter use your hunting gun. I shot trap for a bunch of years and never felt the need to buy a trap gun, I was a consistent 45-50/50 with my field gun. Trap guns are fancy and good for trap shooting, but not good for much else.
