How far off the lands does mag length get you?

No idea, it shoots great where it is so I haven’t even measured. Tikka short action mags are very short, so I considered getting the M+ (6.5 cm length) mags.

I decided to give my new .308 a textured paint job to look a little less boring. For my first serious attempt at it I’m pretty happy.

Side note, these have to be about the best functioning rifles for the money on the market. It shoots absolutely lights out with the first load I tried.

Did you do any sanding or priming before hitting it w/ the rustoleum? Been thinking about painting the stock on my savage.

Give it a light sand. Wipe with a good solvent cleaner and then use self etching primer.

Get rid of that junk. Its shoots left bad! Seriously, you did an outstanding job and can obviously shoot. I’d be tickled for sure.

I took the plunge and tried out painting my savage’s stock. Figured I’d try some sort of camo. It’s nothing fancy or spectacular, but I think it looks ok. I had to keep reminding myself that it’s purely for myself, because the deer don’t care one hoot. Still, I think it will blend well in the clear cuts.
