This years bounty from the garden...

No Pics my garden burned up when a rabbit ran by and burst into flames.Ha!,Ha!
By June it's so hot it's too late in the season here.I planted in Feb.

Picking peas, beans, cucumbers and zucchini so far, but lots on the way. Rain, sun and heat in the perfect quantities so far this summer. Hope it keeps up through August!

Looks we'll actually get tomatoes this year. Last year we got hit by a late frost in the spring and an early one in the fall, before any had a change to ripen. I've already got some color going on a couple.

Turns out the old gnarly tree out back is a cherry tree. Even got enough cherries for a light snack.

My garlic, came up and looked good for like a week and then poof, it was gone...
We've eaten Zucchini twice this week. Cucumbers are coming in daily. And I'm starting to get grape tomatoes.
We'll have jalapenos and popcorn and roma tomatoes in the next few weeks. It' a pretty good garden year.

Very nice. Looks like a giant pumpkin plant in there....? My goal this year was to grow as large a pumpkin as I could but we just haven't had the warmth that I anticipated. Heck, they got frosted on July 21st! I've been nurturing them along with weekly feedings of powdered milk, compost tea and MiracleGro. I have two basketball sized pumpkins but we'll need some hotter days if I'm to see beach ball sized pumpkins.

There's a few giant pumpkin plants at the back, growing out of the manure pile. I put them in there to keep the weeds from taking over, and they seem to do well in straight manure. I haven't tried to grow a truly giant one yet, but down the road from us a pick your own farm hosts a giant pumpkin drop every year. Some of those things are absolutely massive!

Beside those are some native North Dakota squashes that are super good, and store very well. It takes some experimenting to find varieties that work, but we manage a pretty good garden up here

These raised beds are the best remedy for growing a garden in town.
