This years bounty from the garden...

I'm glad you guys are getting some produce. We didn't even plant this year. It rained until June then stopped raining until last weekend. Heck we even lost our peaches to a late frost.

There will be a big shake up in farming. Some farmers failed to plant thousands of acres this year because of the weather and poor planning.

Picking peas, beans, cucumbers and zucchini so far, but lots on the way. Rain, sun and heat in the perfect quantities so far this summer. Hope it keeps up through August!

Is that a hugelkulture mound I see?

No that's a pile of sheep poop that the pumpkins like to grow directly in as it composts. There's one section that is mostly crumbly shale and sand, I've been trying to improve it by growing clover and mulching it in but it still dries out very fast. I should try turning it into a hugelkulture heap.

The final harvest before the storm. Now for some elk meat to go with the veggies. Our apple trees are happy to have the load off.

With sub 20 degs in the forecast I brought in the remaining squash under the overhang of the deck. Besides some potatoes I haven't had a chance to dig, and the carrots that I plan to mulch (once it warms a bit) this is the end of harvest for us.

Pulled the remaining butternut today, then put down fertilizer and double dug it all up and ready to go for next year. Before the hard frost I had tomatoes, Cucumbers, green beans, corn, bell peppers, and potatoes. The wet spring killed all the cantaloupes, watermelon, and zucchini.

My first ever attempt at gardening took a turn for the worse. All of my tomatoes got blossom end rot. I do have Several loaded pepper plants though.885C7E21-E1A1-478F-AE64-16525C0483FD.jpeg
