Heading out the door to the Memorial Day service. Always brings my mind back to those who have sacrificed so greatly, so we, and others in this world have the freedoms we too often take for granted.
I have too many family and friends who have served our country to forget how important their service is/was. From my grandfather in Saipan, my step father in Guadalcanal, my uncles in Vietnam, and many friends who served in more recent wars. Some did not come home, and their families bear the cross of this loss. And all gave a few years of their time, for low pay, high risk, and little appreciation.
Whether attending a Memorial Service or not, I hope today gives cause for all people to give thanks to those who have served.
For those of you who served/are serving, and the families of those who have served, I offer you my greatest appreciation. Thanks.
