Tahr Rut 2026

It’s the end of the tahr rut here in New Zealand and I’ve just spent a week hunting tahr on the eastern side of the southern alps with 3 good friends.

Public land and DIY.

Saw 130+ animals and shot a couple of nice bulls with amazing coats and good horns.

MAN the coats on those jokers are incredible. A full body on a good one would be awesome.

I was very close to doing a full body mount on the bigger bull. For some reason the bulls this year had bigger than normal manes.
