This was my first pronghorn hunt. We decided on NW Nebraska just south of Chadron. We contacted a couple of farmers who were gracious enough to allow us to hunt their land. We saw a number of goats. We tried still hunting but were eventually more successful with spot and stalk. I watched this guy and 8-10 does from 2 miles off working their way toward a bailed alfalfa field. I worked out ahead of them and the group just happened to feed and walk within 40 yards of the bail that I posted up behind. As the does passed I drew my bow knowing that the buck was just behind. He stepped out, I let the arrow go. He only lasted another 40 yards where he laid down. The rest will be hanging on my wall as soon as it comes back from the taxidermist. This was probably the most difficult but most rewarding hunt that we have been on to date.
