Suppressor Opinions

Dumb question- if the suppressor is say 30 cal. can you use that suppressor on any rifle chambered in something smaller than 30 cal as long as the threads are the same? Are there any pros and cons of having one can for them all?
There is no need to buy a caliber specific one. Get a 30 and run it in anything it’s rated for.

+1, at least as far as bolt actions are confirmed. You might get some funky operating issues running an oversized can on a gas-fed semi-auto, though.

If you are super persnickety like yours truly, you can buy a cal-specific end cap for most mainstream suppressors and gain a decibel or two in suppression. I run a 6.5 endcap on my Nomad 30 because I only shoot .264s and .257s through it.

Yea I’d only have it on bolt actions. Do you get any more suppression if the can is 30 cal and your shooting a .257 out of it?

Other way around. You would get slightly less suppression shooting a .257 through a can with a .308 aperture in the end cap than you would shooting a .257 through a .264 aperture. To my understanding though, you're only talking a decibel or two quieter:

Completely unnecessary but I subscribe to the MOAR IS BETTER school of thought.

It varies a bit by design but in general, having baffles and aperture closer to the size of the bullet diameter is going to result in better suppression. Sometimes the difference is trivial and sometimes it's notable. Most cans are designed around 224, 30 cal, 33 cal or the bigger 36 or 375? (dont know, i dont have anything bigger than a 30). There are more 6.5 options out there now though as well.

Easy button is to just go 30 cal and use for everything 30 cal and smaller.

I'm eyeing the Unknown Reaper but there are complaints about the end cap working loose.
I think that is pretty common on cans with threaded end caps and hub rear ends in general if not cranked tight AF or further secured with something like rock set. My Scythe was like that at first until i cranked end cap and hub very tight.
