We are! Even the rose bushes survived. I moved fast within an hour chainsawed, got weight off the block wall. It’s a Bradford pear tree and I’ve been telling my wife for past decade this could happen.
Bradford pears are the worse. I can't stand those trees.
How normal is this kind of weather for there?

It’s normal somewhere statewide to get a wtf snow dump every season. A great amount of this state is high desert so we expect extreme swings in temperature. And we all go dumbshit on the road first snow/ice after 300-some days of mostly clear and sunny.

I understand how you could. It’s not my vocation so we had a freakin great time doing something new.

I was working out of Raton one witer. Jibsite was at 9000 feet. Got 3 feet overnight once while I was there. mtmuley

9000 ft+ near Raton? What were you doing?
Pretty sure that was the elevation. Might have been 7000. It was awhile ago. We were building a hunting lodge on some property surrounded by Vermejo Park. mtmuley

Seems high, but 3 ft of snow is 3 feet of solid state dihydrogen oxide, and that is a bunch.
I edited and it might have been closer to 7000. It was a 15 mile drive from Raton up a nasty canyon. mtmuley

I would bet a dollar, I drove it last summer one evening looking for deer, and bears, and whatever else.
Maybe. There was a locked gate we had to go through. Drove past part of the golf course to get to it. Had a house rented in Raton. Neighbors had a Christmas tree up in February. Weird place. mtmuley

Raton is weird. Lots and lots of Vermejo gates up there. Never been past any of them.
I love doing the storm work, if you haven’t been able to tell I’m a bit of a sucker for the type two fun. The money is good but high stress on the real nasty stuff.
On the way in we drove by lots of old ruins. Some were houses and some part of the coal mining that went on. There were chunks of coal everywhere. mtmuley

That Raton Pass is wicked. Gets closed due to weather at times like seven months out if the year.

Been snowed in at all kinds of NM hot spots.
Half the state is over 6000'.
Silver City in the desert for a day in 3 feet. -40 and 3 feet when I got home at dark. A 2 1/2hr drive usually.
Raton for 2 days 4 feet on 25. Pretty sure Raton is up around 9k. In the canyon.
Santa Fe and Taos are the best to get stuck in for days. I get fat. LOL
Clines Corners is the worst, still semi's stuck there this morning. I went north to Las Vegas once just to move. A 8 hr extra route, chained up.
Just saw over 3feet in Las Vegas this morn...LOL
