Early summer a bit less fire hazard. You guys always cut wood in the heat of summer?
We usually cut and split in winter time. Frozen ground makes things a little easier to drop trees without damage and getting out in the timber a little easier. Two different worlds though I guess.Early summer a bit less fire hazard.
Fall is for fishing and hunting.
This year for the first time I judged standing dead. The big boys fill the truck quicker, but every year I lose a step. 100 yard carry, scurry over a two log bridge over creek, and up an embankment. Medium trees only.View attachment 377168

Most everything I cut these days is brought to the road with cables and a snatch block. Uphill, downhill don't matter. That old blue Chevy has hauled some wood. I'll try to take some pics next trip. mtmuleyWe usually cut and split in winter time.
