there's a chance I may get an extra week of vacation around the end of July. I'm in the Colorado draw for a muzzleloader tag that I'm pretty confident I should draw. Since the muzzy season is the middle of September can I plan on elk using the same patterns from July through September?

I think its very possible you can find elk/elk sign in the summer and they still be close by in September. I’ve done this a couple times where I hunt in CO and WY. If you haven’t been to the area before the main advantage will be learning the land and having plan A through Z. That will definitely make finding elk faster vs never stepping in the unit before. I did this last year and found decent sign in one spot but a ton of rubs from last season. Went back in September and killed my elk on the 3rd morning in that spot.

I should add we will be hunting along the colorado Utah border. Will not be crazy high in elevation.
