strike one on elk

went to encampment elk hunting over labor day.
elk arn't coming to calls and are not responding to calls.
i stalked up to one and under shot with my bow and Moseley missed a 7x7 bull over shooting him by inches.
was a blast but i cant wait tell they start rutting.
i guess thats why we bowhunt we like the challange. I just wish we were better at guessing yardages.
i got to take my bow for some real long hikes though and i'd hate to fill up the first weekend too.

i did not mind missing but moseley was bummed he missed a good bull.
first weekend was still fun three more elk trips left for this year. one more with the bow then two with the 300 mag.

Glad to hear you had a good time though and that you saw some elk. As long as you learned something from your miss then it really wasn't a total miss. I missed a big cow last Nov. in Wyoming becausae I htought she was closer then she was, and I learned from that miss. Good luck next time though.
