Straight walled rifle?

The slug gun has been proven to be higher risk than even 30-06 180gr bullet. PA had a military ballistics lab do a study on potential down range risk from 12ga 350gr sabot, 30-06 180gr versus 50cal mz 150gr pellets 250gr sabot. I posted up complete study in the PA semi auto thread. I also used this study in 2009 for the support of the MI straight wall rule.

I've hunted with a 45-70 by choice many times.

Arkansas does not have a case length limit for their straight wall season, so I usually hunt with a .38-55 in that season.

There is always the 357 Maximum.

Think elongated 357 Mag.

Its such a fun cartridge too. My buddy wanted a SHTF rifle that he could shoot 38spl, 357mag, and 357max out of since he has piles and piles of ammo for them, except Max. I helped his wife order a Henry single shot in 357mag, sent it out to be reamed to Max, and I worked up a 180gn XTP load and loaded 200 for him. It came out awesome, and the velocity on the 357max was impressive. I have no need for one, and 350L and 360BH are right there with much easier to source brass, but its still a cool cartridge.

You could also use 45 Colt.

Have to buy a new rifle.

I really don't see a down side there...
