Sticky hogue stock question

I've got an Browning xbolt with the black hogue stock that's been getting progressively sticky for the last couple of years. Has anybody here had this problem? I've seen online where you can send it back and they will replace the stock. But you can't just send the stock. You have to send the whole rifle and take the scope and bases off. Since this is my favorite rifle I'm worried that doing all this and then trying to put it back together with a different stock may adversely affect how it shoots.

Google it, tons of info about dura touch deterioration and why Browning requires the complete rifle

Interesting that they would want the entire rifle. I bought a hogue for my mini14 years ago as an aftermarket stock. They wouldn't get the entire rifle if there's an issue. Did the rifle come with it or was it an aftermarket add on?

This is the original stock that came with the rifle. The replacement program is the result of a class action settlement. https://duratouchsupport.browning.com/
