I am going to be sponsoring two teens of a military single mom who will be hunting for the very first time. Going to be interesting next season if we draw. Thinking about renting a barn converted to clubhouse. If I set up a fund, anyone interested in helping making their first time a success??? Or possibly participating in the hunt? I have a thing for former military and their families which is why I volunteered.

That is awesome. I donate a few fishing trips to different Vet organizations throughout the year. It sure is a fun way to give back a little.

What you're doing is the very best of what the hunting community represents: stewardship, mentorship, and giving back. By structuring it this way, you're not just shouldering the burden; you're building a bridge for others to walk across and help. This is how traditions are passed on and how we ensure our hunting heritage remains strong, inclusive, and honorable. You are doing a great thing. The community will rally to this. Good luck with the draws

I am getting a quite a few emails and messages offering financial assistance to make this hunt happen for these kids so once I have the licenses locked on, I will create a GoFundMe account and solicit donations. Hopefully, I can find video support so others can be motivated to do the same thing. These kids have no father or relative to get them going right, so I want them to learn the right way. They took the hunter safety class on a whim and once I learned they were wanting to start hunting I volunteered to sponsor them. Their mother had helped my wife and I when our refrigerator went kaput loaded with groceries by providing us a temporary used one that helped us until we could get a new one. I do not know the status of the father yet but my understanding is the mother is what you call a gold star wife. I will update that once I get the correct information.

Update: Father is an absent parent who got out of military in 2018 and mother raised the kids herself. Not easy to do.
