Got a little time here to do some posting of pictures.
Here is the buck I arrowed in WI. He was not the one I was hoping to get but with 2 days left he will have to do. My buddy arrowed one the same day in a 1/2 hour time frame so i stopped by him on the way home for a group photo.

One morning I was walking into my stand in the dark and as I got 30 yars away I see the flash go off, 4 times! later that morning i checked the camera and it was him:mad::BLEEP: 15 minutes later he would have got it from me

nice looking deer. think your buddies may be related to the one in the game cam pics? that bad boy has to be close to the 140's........maybe 150? congrats to the both of you.

So now out to Montana for some Mule deer hunting this past Sunday. Hunted 2pm till dark Sunday and saw a couple bucks but nothing real interesting. Next day I got waaay back in and saw a few, but none big enough again. Snow would have helped, but none to be found. At 1:30 on my way to a different spot closer to my truck I found this guy. Was not going to shoot him at first when I saw hin 1/2 mile out but they went through a draw I had to go to anyway so I headed that way and caught up to them and I liked his spread and decided to kill him and get after Elk for a couple days, I only had 5 days to hunt this year. One trip pack out, over 100 pounds in that thing all together and my feet hurt. Wanted to sleep in and head toward the west side of the state to hunt elk with GH but a skunk sprayed under the shack and I had to evac in a hurry early in the AM

Now the best deer of all by far.... My one day WI rifle hunt with my 7 year old in tow before I headed off to MT. A few of you know the real story on this one, that is all I will say:cool: The second picture he is holding a brand new knife I gave him just then for the occasion.

I like WT better. and the muleys very from year to year depending on how rutty they are. This one does not smell so bad, nor the meat so it should eat well. 4 years ago the one I shot stunk like hell, so did the meat so I pawned the meat off to an indian at a gas station on my way to elk hunt:D
The 2 WT were killed over 100 miles apart so no chance they were genetic related

Looks like a great season. Don't know the doe story, but if it is what I imagine, I will say congrats!!!!!! :D:D:D

Nice work on the critters, lick. Nice pic of the wifes son.;) He looks pretty pumped.

Great bucks and equally great field photos! Congrats. How did the pack do? Yeah or ney? Anything you find good/bad about it?

The pack rules. What even rules more is the customer service MR has. I had a problem with the shoulder straps squeeking a lot and last year they were closed the day I stopped in to show them. This year I stopped and they swapped out new shoulder straps and yolk. I told them my waist pads/straps were a bit too big and I had to sinch the buckles all the way tight as far as they go. He came out with the smaller size pads, but the new overkill style with the bigger padding and asked if I wanted them. HELL YEA!
all no charge.
There are a lot of companies that could take a lesson from MR on customer service.

That's a great season for deer. How did you do on elk?
Best season yet, but could not close the deal. Came real close to shooting a big big SOB but if I had, Greenhorn would still be deaf from muzzle blast so I did not shoot. Passed on a couple small 5 and 6 point bulls, put a last minute mad dash on a 310ish on the second and last day and lost the vantage point and we could not glass him up when we were in range. The clock was ticking and light fading, so we tried making noise, even shot round just to try and bust him out. at the very last second he popped out at the top of the ridge but I could not find him in the short time he stood there. Later on the 4 hour hike out we both agreed we were glad we did not kill that kind of bull on that kind of hell hole.
I tell you what, we got an A for effort though. I am not a suckazz but I have to give credit where due. GH does not kill big bulls every year by hunting exclusive land, or being lucky. It comes from waking at 3AM, hiking 4 hours in the dark just to get someplace to glass, walk some more, glass at dark, and get back to the truck after 9pm. After 2 days, I had nothing in the gas tank an needed a day off, but that day off was the second last day and flying and hunting makes it so you cannot really hunt the day before in places like that or you will never get the meat out in time. I know for a fact if I had one more day a bull would have taken a dirt nap.
Those bulls are out there in many places, a guy just has to be realistic on how hard it is to get to them on public land without a horse.
