In order to not take away from the Iran threads.

Let me clarify my stance on society and its shift towards negativity.

Famous quote about show me the man, I'll show you the crime.

After a 30 year career in Heavy Manufacturing in the Power Generation world starting in the 90s, was layed off in 2022. 2 decades of which were running day to day Business Operations on a Global Scale against billion dollar companies. We stood and we won. Coal fired Power is on the outs, and the owner refused to branch. I give this for context on what I say next

Extremely well known National Company. Hit my 3rd round of interviews a few weeks ago. Extremely great match.

After 2 hours of answering questions in great detail, the Hiring Manager, 25 years old at the end of the meeting states this.

Mr. Miller, I know unequivocally that you could drive Operational results at least 10 times more than I can. However, I cannot offer you this role because you're not saying the key words I want to hear. There is 0 doubt you have more LEAN Manufacturing than almost all of us at the table. I just cannot hire you.....

Rinse, cycle and repeat going on 3 years of Interviews and trying to put my skill set to work again.

Its either overqualified or the key words deal and extremely specific company viewpoints. What they forget, is actually having done it. Potential to adapt and move as I've showcased for decades.
It isn't just the job market either.

You've been out of and looking for work for 3 years? Or I misinterpreted and just been looking for 3 years?
3 years. Yes.

Before you issue a deep judgment here, the job market isn't what you think its is. Not by a long shot. Spend time looking into and you'll see. National "poles" don't tell the real story by a long shot.

I pick up work as it happens. 20 bucks is 20 bucks, but usually the people I deal with there are in drone mode.

Some of this is Regional to my home state as I try to support my family.

Wife has 16 years in with a local school, 4 years from full Retirement. Twin daughter's are also finishing Med degrees, and my son is 1 year into an LE career at 22.
I could be selfish and protect myself, or I can do what I've done for 3 decades and push, move and use my skills to actually build a path to creating jobs for not only myself, but alot of people. I've risked everything I stand for to finish my goals for my family.

I have one job, take care of them. My story is entirely to deep to post here. What I can tell you is I'm a person of PERSEVERANCE AND STRENGTH. I'll never Quit.

Failure happens to all, however never Quitting is the path, Failure is temporary and better days return
I've relaunched my own business in the last 96 hours, and its still a work in progress.

Still a work in progress.

In our world today pictures and video are great on websites. Good luck things will work out keep hammering away

No judgement whatsoever, I was just genuinely curious.
We both have the same job. However you do that is entirely up to you and your business. Wishing you luck in your search.
I love what you and I do. I truly the enjoyment and Pride in it. The nuances and dynamic of NOCO is part of it.

I've posted some already metal threads.

Honestly with context so much of where and what I've done is precluded due to NDAS,NCAS and things like ITAR its almost impossible to showcase in pictures and names. Is what it is.

It's ridiculous that just anyone can get a job because they say key words. See it all the time with my job, seems like it is getting better with the new criteria that the current administration has issued for hiring civil service but still a lot of people that are not qualified outcompete others just because they know the system.

You probably already know this, but I’ll say it anyways.

I feel like there is more power in a reference/network than there is a strong resume at times.

Check your network and see who the players are in life that may know people in these companies or find out someone who might be connected by a few degrees if separation.

Sometimes all you need is that one person to say “look at this guy” or “ridge runner is cool”

I hope this new business works out for you or that some company calls you soon and offers a fat salary.

Good luck

ABCs of planning.

My immediate goal is to use my skillset as a Consultant to build Operational Capitol.

The Strategic Goal is to build my own facility and put great people to work.

In the mean time, bankruptcy, potential for Foreclosure weighs extremely heavily on my shoulders.

Nobody is coming to save me nor would ask that of anyone.

I'm the only one that can fix this.

It is. Its not what you know, but who. I've an extremely deep network worldwide.

Given our niche, worldwide politics, uncertainty in markets, there has been hesitation to invest.

That said, you can see my previous responses. When you become a "threat" to someone else's role, its a different game.

Me personally I'm not after your job. I'm after contributing and building beautiful things.

My greatest strength is people. Both CS and Management.

I build real relationships from the C-Suite to the newest hire.

Are these keywords a periphrasis for DEI vocabulary?

Stepping into my new role, the “threat” is to the people who are comfortable or lazy.

If anything is leadership was smart enough to see they have a bunch of donkeys.

Then I’d be out there hiring thoroughbreds. Then your donkeys either start running faster and working harder, or you get rid of them and buy more horses.

I’m really enjoying giving a lot of people in my new place a reason to “run.”

Another thing I’d consider is where do a lot of your skills transfer.

I worked 20 years aircraft maintenance and now I’m in manufacturing. Same; same, just different lingo.

Go talk to one of those fancy Lockheed, Boeing, or space force places.

Absolutely beautiful analogy!!!

Aero/Defense I'm a nogo at that station without a College degree despite my history getting it done no matter what their job description says. I've done a ton of work in that realm plus SF-86 backgrounds for former employees. Plus gave family at a huge firm. He's pushed all the way through a Master's and still in trying to rise. However he shifted from civilian to defense a few years ago.

That's one of the bullet points I run into. Its not that I don't want that degree or cert, but in Cost/Benefit, Profit/Loss analysis, is the juice worth the squeeze? Especially for somebody that will pay completely out of pocket?

I'm of the opinion thats a no.

As to transferring skills, I bet I'd kill it on the HR/Headhunter Realm and with Business Development.

Anyone that's done either, knows. The point of building relationships is absolutely real.

I spent over 2 decades as a HM. Learned hard lessons early on talent but also humans.

People I'd turn down I would let them know about fit, but I'd also let them know even before I see your taillights leave the parking lot, I'm calling multiple companies and letting them know you'd be a great fit.

Guess what, it worked extremely well.

Sorry to hear about your situation. The job market reports I hear is low hire/low fire situation right now.

I haven’t heard of the key word situation. It may be more of an issue in your area. I’d ask for a list for future interviews but I have a hard time finding the relevance to hiring a good person. I have seen DEI and I’m indirectly affected by it being a white male.
