So much for the vaunted Swarovski warranty.

400.00 and you have your Binoculars back.

Or go and Try and find New.
That are as good. For 400.00

I know what I would do.

Exactly. And after 22 years. That cost $18.19/year “extra” for one of the finest optical instruments made, and one used in incredibly unforgiving environments. Not much lasts forever and there is no blanket “free” repair. Use some common sense and be reasonable.

Find a 22 year old Vortex product. Most are replaced annually…

I have Leupold Wind River Pinnacles that are 25 years old. Some small stuff is a pain, but I would think a binocular that cost 4 to 5 times as much would last a bit longer. And yeah. I've used the shit out if them. Today even. mtmuley

Of course, that's not true, and it would be very hard to find any 22 year old Vortex product since the brand started producing optics in 2004. ;) In any case, it seems some people must not be very happy with their own products or price if they have to bring up Vortex so much. :D

I think everyone knows they aren't trying to be a direct competitor to Swarovski. Not everyone thinks it makes sense to pay thousands for optics when they can get most of the same features for a lot less with a better warranty.

Finally, any impact that's causing a Vortex optic to be replaced annually would really stretch the Swarovski warranty, right?

If Swarovski and vortex binoculars cost the same, who would buy the Vortex?

I enjoy a fine glass of wine or bourbon, but most of my fondest memories were made with cheap beer and an open mind. People that just CANNOT hunt without the most exquisite glass are likely not a lot of fun around the campfire...

My goal for next year is to buck my trend of Gucci gear and go kill something special with Walmart grade gear. I think I focus too much on finding any advantage I can buy rather than just pure effort and woodsmanship.

You obviously dont glass much.

Go glass coues deer for 8 hours with your Walmart binoculars, report back.

Cheap clothes, cheap rifles, cheap knives, even cheap rifle scopes...Who cares? Save a few bucks on those.

I cant get by with dogshit glass.

Crazy that nobody ever killed a Coues deer before Swarovski released the EL's in 1999. Or are NL's required to kill a deer?

Back to the shitty customer service from Swarovski. I lost an eye cup somehow on my slc's stalking a coues buck. Been glassing 8 days probably 7-9 hours a day (try that with vortex).

Anyway called them up from the desert got right through to a customer service rep and told him of my woes.

He said no problem Mr. Hettick a replacement will be shipped today in time for your elk hunt on Tuesday when you get home.

Once again I can't complain and it worked out right fair.

Get your buck?

Warranty or not, there’s nothing better for spotting bedded rams a long ways off, which just resulted in a successful hunt for a client.
