Afternoon was pretty but uneventful. 1 squirrel One of the many nice surprises when you come back to the Midwest? When the check comes at dinner.....2 Bacardi/diet/tall (don't judge), club sandwich with homemade kettle chips and homemade dip, order of fried mushrooms.....$36

Day continued the same. Had one little forky sneak within 15 yds of me and loiter for a few. Otherwise just peaceful and pretty.

Out this morning on the marsh where my buddy shot his. I think deer sightings on his property are down this year due to the adjoining ag field having been completely plowed under and there being PLENTY of food behind us. Glad he got that nice dude but I'm a little slim on how right now. Still beautifully to be in Wisconsin.

Had some action between 1120- 1145. 2 does 100yd off but in woods with no shot(ended up prancing around neighbors field ) , 2 does running through the marsh with nothing below their eyes visible, and the only shot...... another forky at 50 yd

Sorry for the delay.....been moving around last couple of days. The rest of the day netted zero. I'm ok with it. Not shooting dinks at this point in my life and no does presented a shot. Most of my white tails get ground and given to vets in my wife's court program who currently don't have hunting rights. Kevin and I went out to dinner and got me some walleye... really the only fish I like. Mmmmmmmmmm

Tuesday I got up and packed. Was on the road about 1000. So with plenty of daylight I was going to make 2 stops that were on my way. First, Norske Nook in DeForest. There are 3 of these in Wisconsin.....Norwegian themed restaurant with pie that will change your life. Had the roast turkey, mashed potatoe lefse wrap and then..... raspberry cream cheese pie!!!! Amazing. From there i headed to Barneveld.....Vortex HQ. I know there are a lot of haters..... and feel how you feel.....but i will tell you that dealing with them as a company is pretty great. They always answer the phone, their people care, and they will do whatever they can to support retailers as well as customers. Fun fact, their call center is RIGHT behind the retail/ reception public area. Nice to see and meet a few people I have talked with on the phone. Love me some Wisconsin. Drove through crazy wind and some rain..... made it to Omaha. Easy drive home today and already unpacked, ready for turkey day.

My heart skipped a beat when I saw that Norske Nook entrance! I've made the 2 hour round trip for their pies ... it's that good! Safe travels dude!

First, I love Norske Nook. I usually hit the one in Osseo on my way out to South Dakota.

Second, I have been meaning to go to Vortex just to see it. I dated someone in high school who had family in Barneveld and I would sometimes go to their family get togethers at a bowling alley on a country road just east of town. In my head Barneveld is a small town with no industry, but somehow that has changed since the early 90s.
