SFC B's yearly folly.......

Going to shoot for the last time (probably) before I leave for home....then won't be back here until Thanksgiving. Going to actually adjust my ballistic turret for the suppressor on the 6.5 (right now I have been just "doping" it). 22-250 is right on and I will be limiting it to does within point blank range. MAN, I can't wait to be back in the Midwest!!!!

Been at the cabin in Etna Green the last 5 days doing chores. Assembling furniture, yard work, cleaning gutters, getting estimates for work. Got to spend time with family, meet the neighbors and eat well. Now I'm in Flora about to head to the woods for the first time tomorrow.

Home sweet home. IN MT now but cut my teeth hunting outside of Akron. And have an inside joke with my best friend about Etna Green, never thought I’d see that name on HT.

Ive been trying to perfect my “breaded venison tenderloin” and am getting close.

Best of luck to the Hoosier hunters.

Go IU!!!!!

You just never know.....my neighbors are the guy across the pond, an Amish dude and a cornfield. 😀 Etna Green is hopping these days....diner, new gas station, liquor store, elevator/gun store. 😉

First day at the farm this year. Went out this afternoon to check out what the logging looked like. Put a big staging area in the CRP, cut a nice access/buffer open area around the wood edge and it looks like they just went looking for walnuts.....including a HUGE one right next to one of my stands. They left some slash in places I wish they hadn't but it is what it is. Think I have a plan and I'll be out in the morning. Saw/half jumped a bedded doe on the walk. Probably could have gotten her but it was warm and I wanted to finish my walk. Saw a buck crazy dogging a doe outside Camden on my way out. Great news, Levi my firewood guy got me all oak this year 😀

Went to the house for lunch and to dry out..... Seriously thought about not going back out as it was just turning to snow again. Redman kinda have me a shrug and I knew I had to. Put some water proofs on and got back up. It was steady light snow all afternoon. Until about 1630 not much went on. Then out of the corner of my eye I caught movement on the far end of the crp (200m). 2 does came out and fed in the opening for about 10 min. Them i caught movement the other direction in the field. A lone doe was hauling ass from east to west at about 250m. Another 10-15 min go by and in the direction the first 2 does here comes a shooter, mature 8-10 pt head down. In front of him a doe had slipped in. They were at about 175m. They circled in front of me and then dipped into the woods at about 70-80 m. If ONLY it was NEXT weekend!!! Before it got dark I had 3 pairs of basket rack/doe running the field and 2 more does in the thick CRP. Closest anything got was a good sized doe to about 40, but she was in stuff so thick all I could see was her head. If she'd have given me an opening she would be hanging in a tree now and it would have only been about a 20m drag to the road. Great night in the end.
