Sen Mike Lee as AG?

No frickin way. He'll simply say that some existing law allows for the disposal and all BLM lands are up for grabs. Then you're counting on the scotus. Maybe that's a sure bet, maybe it's a sinkable Titanic...

This article subtly summarizes why the odds of this appointment seem low. Lee is widely disliked by, well, everyone. Many would love to see him get the AG job just so he goes away.

Everyone is a nobody to Trump eventually. But if enough people can often get in his ear and convince him of doing stuff, anything is possible.

Makes me wonder about what Mike Lee thinks his future is? 15yrs as a congressman. The AG job involves a lot of public scrutiny- press, Congress, etc- and there is a microphone in your face almost daily. That fact, under Trump, means it comes with almost guarantee that you’re going to get fired if you’re there long enough. As AG, what does Lee see as the next step? Private practice is about the only option because higher political office is not happening. Looking at it from that standpoint, Lee wouldn’t even take the job. But like you said, who knows.

Thinking about what damage he could do in the position is almost impossible. Regardless of who takes the job, everyone needs to lawyer up.

he's a nobody to trump.
If we remember, to last Summer, Lee's public land amendment was locking up the OBBB. There was a conversation between the two, after which Lee pulled the amendment. Trump is transactional and Lee is transactional (and smart) so I just assumed there was some promise on something. Sure, promises mean very little, so I hold on to that as a beacon of hope.

To hypothetically answer my own question, I remember a conversation late last summer with a DC person after all that and it was jokingly said "Maybe he promised Lee he could be the next Supreme Court Justice", which I laughed off. I'm not laughing now. Look at polls and approval ratings. Thee is better than coin flip chance of Thomas or Alito retiring. If you want to kill the entire idea of federal public lands, jumping right to SCOTUS would be the shortest route. I worry we always fight the little fires and as @Big Fin pointed out, the opposition is playing the long game to burn the entire thing down.
