So I picked up a Ruger American predator gen 1 in 22-250. This will be my ride around in the ranger checking traps and riding in the truck checking cows rifle. Do you think a 3-9x50 would be fine? Or should I go 4-12? I’d like to stay under $300 on a scope. Any suggestions?

I’ve come to expect very little out of my budget optics. I’d go with a Leupold VX Freedom or Vortex Diamondback figuring it’ll get broken eventually and at least the replacements will be free

I’ve got a silver leupold vxII 3x9x40 in better condition than the one above I would sell you for the same price. It’s barely been used. I mounted it on a Rem Model 7 .223 and probably have less than 50 rounds on it total. DM me for more info and pics if interested.

Trijicon Huron 3x9x40 $349 at PSA. You’d be hard pressed to find better glass and durability in anything in that price range. Been out for a while and list was $699 when introduced. Most places are currently right around the $500 mark or close to it right now.

This is the answer

I have a pair of these. For a budget I feel they are really good for their price.

They are probably lower power than what you’re after but I have bought 2 of the skinner optics. One on a 742 and one on a 336 and I have yet to have an issue with either. I generally stay away from cheap glass but I won’t hesitate on another one of those for that 2-250 range
