Hello- Myself and hunting partner are planning a muzzleloader hunt next fall in CO. How important is it to perfect bugling? I am struggling to sound consistent. Any advice is well received. Thanks in advance.

Best advice, especially with a muzzleloader. Don’t touch your calls unless you have to. At most some soft cow calling. Let them make the noise, say quiet and move in on them or get ahead of them. A lot of times, nothing will make pressured elk go silent faster than ripping on a grunt tube.

I like to only call as a last resort when hunting elk in high pressured areas. A hail mary so to speak when it appears like it is now a lost cause doing what I'm doing.

If you aren't hunting high pressured elk - private or rare draw tags, calling can sure be fun and as others have stated, it don't really matter how you sound as they sound themselves like garbage most of the time anyways
