Check to make sure you did not put a nick or burr on the crown. That is the biggest overlooked thing when cleaning a gun. Use a rod guide alwaysQuestion: Have you ever had a significant decrease in a rimfire's accuracy after cleaning? I was out shooting my Savage .17HMR with my son, it was shooting good groups but we noticed the scope was a little loose. We tightened the scope and decided to clean the gun good while we were at it, since then the groups are 2 to 3 times larger. We've shot at least 100 rounds since cleaning, but the groups just aren't as good. I'm not sure if we somehow messed something up or if you just don't clean rimfires?
