Hey guys,

I wanted to get your opinions on retractable tonneau covers. I just bought a new truck and want to have dry storage in the back but still be able to use it like a truck when I need to. I thought about a shell but they are harder to take off. It appears there are several makers so picking one is not that easy.

Thanks,

Todd

I've had the truxedo lo pro for 3 years. really like it. one complaint is you have to pop the rear end of the cover up above the tailgate to keep the little rubber seal from getting pinched under the top and the tailgate. not a big deal at all unless you have to open and shut it a whole bunch or if you have someone else open and close it without knowing how to shut it correctly. other than that I've had very good luck with it and like the Velcro sides a lot. it also is very water tight

I wouldn't have one. I've had them on 2 work trucks, and IMO, they suck.

If you tour the highway in your truck, they're great. Use a truck on dirt roads, they're worthless. Everything you put in the bed will be covered in fine dirt/dust.

Pain in the butt to get into, large coolers, etc. wont fit underneath them, lots to not like about them.

I have a Roll 'N' Lock roll top.
It does me,and can be locked, but rain can still creep in around the edges, although it keeps the bulk of the worst weather out.
The reason a picked it instead of a hard top is i need to stand on the tail gate and drag a red deer in.

Cheers

Richard

Have a truxedo, only issue i've ever had is that when its -30 up here and I wash the truck it freezes down right away lol. It works great and my wife likes it because it keeps everything covered on road trips.

I had an Undercover hard cover on the Tacoma I had (before coming back to Europe :( ) and it was great. Lockable, watertight, came with LED lights inside and I could take it off by myself in just a couple of minutes. I installed it in the Pep Boys parking lot in about 10 minutes :)

Had Roll-N-Lock covers on 3 previous trucks. Guess I liked them OK - kinda pricey, have to keep rails lubed with silicone, and a PIA to get in if you have snow and ice on top.

Truck I have now came with a Truxedo roll up soft cover. Fully intended to replace it with Roll N Lock, but here I am a year and a half later and still have the Truxedo. Well pleased. Have not had to deal with any snow / ice on it. Keeps weather out good, with the locking tailgate things are fairly secure. Plan on staying with this.
