New Peterson brass every case was perfectly uniform in weight and length. After the first firing I measured the case length. Instead of the case stretching a little it was shorter by .015. Every case. Is this normal. The cases were 6 mm Creedmoor

Second question I have some new 17 Remington Nosler brass all prepped. I did nothing to the new cases just loaded them up with my standard load. They would chamber but i could not drop the bolt handle. I chambered a new unloaded case same thing. Could it be that the shoulders are a tad bit to forward and need to be bumped back or should I FL size each case? I have no issues with new Norma brass

What he said. Sammi specs are pretty broad, from a reloaders point of view. In the first case it is likely the chamber is a little long, as the case expands the effect is the overall length shortens up a little. This was very noticeable in the Jarrett rifles I had, particularly the 338 which required fire forming an 8mm Remington case to the steeper shouldered Jarrett case.
Appears to be the opposite case in your 17 with Nosler brass which apparently is on the long side of the spec.
Nothing wrong in either case as long as you are aware on your first loading and adjust your dies accordingly.

Case gets wider when fired and that can result in them get shorter as well. When a sizing die squeezes them skinnier is when they get longer.

That's typically what you see when fireforming standard cases to AI cases. The new cases almost never grow to standard length again.

Like everything on the internet- lots of opinions...
I do not full length resize new brass. But I also start with a dummy round for first case and check to see if it chambers.
I also have a neck die that uniforms the necks to take the bullet.

I remembered a post on 24 campfire by writer John Barsness that he talked about this issue. I can’t get a copy and paste to work but if you care search fl sizing new brass he has reasons not to fl size new brass.

I never FL size new brass, but will clean up the neck if they look dented. Good idea to chamber the new cases to see if they fit. Sounds like the Nosler cases may be a bit long for your tight 17 Rem chamber like others have said.
If you had measured your Peterson brass with a should comparator prior to and after firing, you would have more than likely found that the measurement had grown.
