Relax, Everything is Going to be Okay!

Regarding Kevin Hassett he taught economics at the Columbia Graduate Business School (hardly an Austrian/Mises school), Senior Economist at the US Federal Reserve Board of Governors -so he might know something about economic research, and he has been in economic advisory position since the McCain and Romney campaigns hardly some crackpot.
Kevin Hassett is an idiot.

Fetterman has been your lone voice of sanity, lately. 😉

Fetterman supports Trump's ousting of Maduro https://foxbaltimore.com/station/sh...ld-trumps-ousting-of-venezuela-nicolas-maduro

Time will tell, whether or not capturing Maduro was a smart move. Venezuela, rightfully, is a risky place for oil companies. I know my former employer is very leery of returning there.

Presently the vice-president (dictator) is in charge, under some murky arrangement with the USA. I do not see a good path for transitioning to a democratic government. In all likelihood, it will be seen as an Uncle Sam installed government. It was distrust of the USA and oil companies that brought Chavez to power. He managed to run off most of the foreign oil companies.

For now, I see it as we have put our foot in another bear trap. I hope not, but we can't just leave, and we can't overplay any hand while we stay.

As for Fetterman, his voice of sanity left him some time ago.

Oh, ok that changes everything.

Economists are politicians with an interest for economics. All of them can fit the data to their desired narrative. Hassett can't say anything without his trademark smirk. That is a tell, to me, he knows he's spewing BS.

For those not up on the latest...

King Charles...his brother, said
"I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct while in public office. What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.

In this, as I have said before, they have our full and whole-hearted support and cooperation.

Let me state clearly: the law must take its course."

Pretty big contrast with the US where Trump/Bondi and his far from independent justice department are actively stonewalling any similar effort to hold abusers accountable, let alone let anyone see who might be named as involved.

The thing with Prince Andrew is he's been a known creep since forever. Outing and investigating him isn't anything new. That's not to say that some of the euros aren’t doing much better than the Trump/Bondi DOJ, because they are. It's just that going after Prince Andrew is kind of like how they went after Epstein before he disappeared - everyone knew he was a creep for years, they just decided to finally publicly do something about it.

Wonder if Andrew will die and show up in Israel too. Doubt he's as useful to Israel as Epstein was..

You know, I've shed no tears for Maduro. He probably deserves anything that comes his way, but there's something funny and ironic about the same folks who get most bent out of shape about immigration from Latin America, applauding our government for f#%@ing around in Latin America AGAIN...

Sorry, but that needed to be responded to. What you posted may be factually correct regarding his resume, but in terms of respect from his peers, he has none. It's not even about a difference of opinion, models, or theories. He has zero respect. He has gotten worse over the years and is now considered a joke.

He was arrested for giving sensitive trade secrets to Epstein. Age of consent in GB is 16. Pedophile central in that country!

I tried to look his record and find out more about him, I did not find anything that indicated lack of respect etc. Admittedly I did not take a deep dive into his background. Only thing I have found is he co-authored a book that was about 15 years off from being correct. I took your initial reaction to him based on other posts that you have made that indicated a disdain for the current movement away from free trade etc.

I'm just wondering how anyone can personally know so much about Kevin Hassett, but the reality is they are just parroting what others in articles/media have told them.

They could've drug a cringe treble hook thru hollywood or new york and filled the catch hold. Still could...

I think most of us are wondering why there have been zero arrests from the Epstein files. It seems like there were probably crimes, but I haven't read the files.

Of course, these files were available for a long time not just with the current administration. That doesn't excuse it, but it seems like there are a lot of connected people who are pushing hard to prevent arrests.

Former Prince Andrew has already been stripped of title etc. His prosecution is just another way to go after someone who's lost all power. On the other hand, other prosecutions are still are focusing on social media posts and ignoring the real crimes or at least giving sentences that are so small that the crimes will continue. So, I don't think they are worth holding up as an example to follow.

Pretty easy...again source after source with documentation tells us tariffs are being passed on to consumers and prices are being raised.

There is no reasonable debate on that...but Hasset disagrees so strongly that it erases any accomplishments he had previously.

Say your quiet part...you're repulsed by his fealty to DJT. He's no more an idiot than the idealogical parrots the last admin installed.
The fealty is certainly worthy of it, but this isn't political. I might not agree with David Zervos on policy, but at least there is room for debate. You may be surprised that I agree with Warsh on a lot of things, except maybe the impact. But I am willing to see what happens. Again, this isn't political. Hassett is an idiot. Maybe he hasn't always been one? He worked at the Fed in the research group in the mid 90's. Not much of a track record to go on there, but I don't remember any working papers, which tells you something. When he went to AEI maybe he got a larger serving of the cool-aid. He has been a proponent of stuff that hasn't worked and now is just a mouthpiece. Putting a guy like him on TV every week to talk to the public is dangerous. He isn't connected to reality.

It's a joke. We dont have a functioning democracy yet people pretend you can just kidnap another country's leader and expect a democracy to form and work there?

Maduro didn't like our masters in Israel and the international banking community so they had to be regime changed. Just like Iran, no threat, but our masters will never be happy until there is a regime change. That way they can point to all of the muslims who's world keeps getting turned upside down and call them terrorists and continue to hoodwink Europe and USA about who the real terrorists are. People are waking up but i fear it's too late.

Kevin Hassett
https://ideas.repec.org/f/pha378.html

42 working papers, 37 articles, 10 chapters and 5 books

When Trump nominated Hassett to chair his first-term Council of Economic Advisors, in 2017, the Washington economics establishment was delighted. A bipartisan group of influential economists, including top advisers for former Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama as well as two former chairs of the Federal Reserve, wrote a letter urging the Senate to confirm him. As evidence of Hassett’s qualifications, the letter cited his “record of serious scholarship on a wide range of topics”

As far as tariffs go "meh", Inflation is at 2.5% and GDP is expected to be a 5%. I am getting ready to retire in May so I am redoing our monthly budgets and I have not noticed any effect from them, but I do not go to Wal Mart that much. As I stated earlier Food seems to be the highest contributor to inflation and that is primarily about beef not tariffs. If tariffs are costing me 1000 a year, I am not noticing it yet, it took 40+ years of this free trade and globalism policy to get us completely reliant on China for everything. It is going to take some time and assuredly some pain to hopefully gain some self-reliance.

A different perspective about tariffs
