When the hunt planner says so and so tag is good within the "blank" river drainage what does that mean? Like is there a written rule like half mile either side of the river? I have always wondered how it applies

Basically the watershed for that river. the actual boundary will be listed in the unit descriptions in the regulations.

Antelope areas on page 20 here:

Edited to add- Each tag has its specific area and that is laid out in the final regulations....Like this one for elk : https://wgfd.wyo.gov/media/32323/download?inline

In the case where it is specific to only a portion of the unit that is mentioned in the limitations column. I see there are a couple places the "drainage" is mentioned but most are specific features like a creek, river, highway or within a specified distance.

Basically, if the animal is standing on land where a raindrop would run down into the river in queation, that animal would be within the river drainage and be legal to take if all other conditions are met (season is open, correct sex, legal shooting hours, etc).

If the animal is just over the hill where the raindrop runs to another river, the animal is not in the hunt area.
