ok, just got back from a Kansas whitetail hunt with bow, already wanting to plan a mule deer hunt with my bow in a state that has OTC archery season for 2014.......please help.

Nebraska has OTC tags for deer hunting. I'll be honest and say that you should just draw a Kansas WT tag and try for the mule deer option. Kansas has better hunting.

Wyoming is also an option. You can get a regional tag for most of the state without preference points. Hunt the bow season and come back during gun if necessary.

we are driving so was seriously looking at Nebraska...........not many posts on here about Nebraska mule deer......is the mule deer hunting in Nebraska tough or what?

Somewhat. They just don't manage it as good as Kansas. Kansas only gives 1 buck tag for residents and non residents. Nebraska gives 2. Kansas charges $550 +$100 for a mule deer tag and Nebraska charges $200. Many Eastern Nebraska folks come here and shoot the first mule deer they see even if it is a fork horn, just so they can say they shot a mule deer.

Bow hunting is not bad in Nebraska but gun season is really a zoo. I'd plan for bow hunting the first week of the season or come up a week before guns season when the rut is going on.
