I think Pat one time said a couple things make people crazy. Elk and money. I'd toss antelope hunting in there. Might not have been him but kinda true. mtmuleyBack when numbers were pretty good (20-25 years ago), they'd give 12-14K either sex permits, and I believe all (or most) those successful license holders were then offered 2 extra doe/fawn permits. Do that math. Currently (my own opinion based on small local observations) there's less than half the antelope now, and the 16K seems to be about right in line with the ratio of stupidity of offereing 30K+ tags. The craziest of all times hunting antelope I've ever seen was in the mid-late 90s over there, opening day of antelope season. The daylight eruption of gunfire across the prairie, and high speed vehicles on terrible roads and cross country with running herds of speedgoats..
