The tax cut was fantastic for all small businesses. My daughter's small company hired more people, expanded their product line, gave bonuses, increased salaries, and contributed more to employee's 401Ks based on the cut. Over 50% of our economy is small business. And, even with the tax cut, total revenues went up; smaller % tax rate x larger tax base. And as has been shown, it stimulated wage growth of those at the bottom and middle of the economic scale the most.
This isn't an R vs D thing. JFK did the same thing in 1964; at the time, tax revenues were expected to decline, but did not.
Reagan did this also, lowering taxies and leading to the longest peacetime expansion of the economy ever (until now, pre-Covid).
Take home is that individuals know far better how to spend money efficiently than the federal government does. While I'm in favor of STEM, Jimmy Buffet put a light-hearted spin on it in his classic Fruitcakes:
"Speakin' of fruitcakes, how 'bout the government?
Your tax dollars at work.
We lost our Martian rocket ship
The high paid spokesman said
Looks like that silly rocket ship
Has lost its cone shaped head
We spent 90 jillion dollars trying to get a look at Mars
I hear universal laughter ringing out among the stars"
