Looking to possibly do a Post Rut hunt next season.
Looking at Colorado 2nd Rifle.
The only hunting out west I have ever done is Archery in Mid September.

Im looking to try and get some tips from anyone on hunting Post Rut.
I know that most times if they get snow up high they will move down to lower elevations.
But what else could help?
Would I look for more north facing slopes to glass at?
Looking for any help I can get.

Not planning on back packing in. Will be setting up a base camp and hunting from there each day.

Looking for fresh sign, and looking for elk from a good glassing vantage at the peak hours for activity.. first in and last to leave. Finding them is half the battle. Think outside the box.

Get creative in picking terrain where you don't think people will be. Make sure that country is good for looking over other country. Be hunting before dawn and stay til you can't see. If you don't see anything, move on. It is really hard, but it is pretty simple.
