Four of us averaged our points and drew limited quota elk tags in a unit in the Pinedale/Jackson area. The two older guys in the group are both retired and plan to spend most (if not all) of September archery hunting (probably some fishing too) and then come back for rifle in October. They already made a scouting trip to where we plan to hunt. My buddy and I are limited to a week of archery and a week of rifle with full-time jobs and PTO. But between the four of us and all the time that will be spent hunting, I'd imagine we can at least find one elk to shoot. The older guys are curious about a reputable meat processor in the area for when they are there archery hunting. If anyone on here knows of a good processor in that area, I am all ears. One I have found so far is Matt's Custom Meats in Jackson. Any advice is appreciated.

I've used Wykota Wild Game Processing (over by Lander) and Matts Jackson Hole Custom Meats. Both were good.

Haven't used Matts but after watching him n the field for our bison hunts I would use him for processing. Good guy.

I know this was last year’s thread, but is Matt’s still the spot?

Pending a successful antelope hunt (it will happen) I’d like to drop it off there for holding while I’m chasing mule deer.

Updating this for anyone looking and planning.

There’s a new place in Big Piney called Kampfire Meats

The owner was very nice and they have overnight storage.

Big fire late last summer changed our plans and we ended up coming in to hunt n!nety f!ve from Dubois rather than from Pinedale. We used Wykota Wild Game Processing about an hour east of Dubois. I thought they did a good job and were reasonably priced. Not going to be a place to go seek out from Pinedale/Jackson as it sounds like there are good processors there, but wanted to provide some input on our experience after we did a 180 on our hunting plan due to fire.
