Well not really a contest, since it will not be judged, rather you get entered into the drawing for the mere fact that you posted a photo in this thread.

Here's the gig. The photo must be of a landscape. No people, no dead animals, no live animals, just the natural setting that makes you think about how cool it is that we have these amazing lands to hunt and fish.

Only requirement is that you give some explanation of the scenery and hopefully some thoughts about why it is a cool place. Quality does not matter. An entry is all that counts. One entry per Hunt Talker.

And here is the prize.

Mystery Ranch gave me five load cells to give away on the site. You can see their load cells at this link.

http://www.mysteryranch.com/hunting/hunting-pack-accessories/nice-load-cell

I use them for organizing my gear into some order that I can then grab that load cell and know it has everything for that hunt/type of hunt. The more you have them, the more you find uses for them.

I might even see if I have some other cool stuff to toss in the works, besides these load cells. Call it a Mystery Ranch Mystery Prize.

I will start, though I'm not entered in the drawing.

Just something about the high plains grasslands of northern Arizona. Hard to explain until you spend two weeks in monsoon season chasing antelope. Once you do, odds are you will crave the next chance to repeat the experience.

Moonlit scene from elk camp

Thanks for the opportunity, Randy.

Here's my entry: A long exposure from a November elk camp in central Idaho. Lighting is just moon, stars, and the remnants of sunset.

This was opening morning of 2009 Colorado pheasant on the eastern plains. I took this picture sitting on my tailgate waiting for a few buddies to show up, my boys were asleep in the cab, and I was sipping my coffee and listening to the roosters hackle in the field I was at. What a beautiful sunrise the lord gave me to watch while I waited. This was a moment I wish I could capture and physically go back when I need some R&R time.

Is this Heaven? No, it's Wyoming

This was the amazing view I had on my last day of hunting in the Bridger Teton National Forest last year. Grand Teton National Park is my favorite place in the US. When I was able to finally plan an elk hunt, this area was the first place on my list.

The only way that summer is bearable.

Reindeer Lake, Saskatchewan. This was the best sunset I have seen, it helped that I was on a float plane starting a 5 day fishing trip. Easily my best trip to Canada.

New Mexico

It's a double, but my photography skills don't show it well. Taken last September on an archery elk hunt with my brother in NM.

This is a shot that my son took of me once we reached the ridge of a canyon in Utah that we were hiking to go fishing together. He just graduated from high school and recently turned 18. I had no idea that he took the picture. It is the most meaningful photo of me ever taken. I am getting to the point that hiking is very hard on me. My knees are shot and after several surgeries I don't know how many more ascents I have left like this. That topped with the fact that before long, my buddy..... my son, will be out on his own and living his own own life. When this picture was taken I was reflecting on being his father and wishing that we had the chance to do it all over again. I am really going to miss days like this, I am really going to miss the times I get to spend with my boy.

This is a special place in south eastern New Mexico. It happens to be at a gate on the way back to elk camp. It never fails to provide an inspiring view each evening that I pass through there on my elk trips. So tranquil and the fence posts remind me how small we are in this vast wilderness the was created for us to enjoy by the good Lord. When I glance at this same photo framed on my desk, I remember the good friend that got me started elk hunting when I never thought I could.
