Packable Rain Gear

I got a pair of these recently when on sale and used reward points and so far I like them. Easy on and off, good adjustments, and not terribly noisy. I wish other brands would offer black because not everyone wants to stand out with camo patterns, we don't only live in the woods.

I found a set of Skre Nebo that will fit right over my hunt garbs. Perfect for hunting here at home.

Seriously considering a Kuiu set in ash for heavy duty work and non hunting use. The ones with extra material in the butt, knees and cuffs.
Quality rain gear makes life easier. Others laughed when I spent my uniform allowance on Gore-tex . Lasted 30 years and days in the rain working. Almost impossible to find now.

I am close to 80 years old and over the past 60 plus years of outdoor activity, including hunting I have gone on three different routes for rain gear.

At the high end an honest 40 years ago I bought a bluish green Gortex 3/4 length super high quality stylish rain coat made by Eddie Bauer. At the same time I bought a pair of high quality Eddie Bauer Gortex rain pants. These two garments have served with distinction from the Columbia glacier in Alaska, to Patagonia, to Normandy France. I have cared for both and they still look/work great.

I have also had a classic Vietnam Style camo hooded Pancho with separate leggings serve very well in all situations. Not stylish but offered such diverse functionality.
In rain and snow i like having most of my rifle under it.

Lastly two over-sized, heavy duty garbage bags have been life savers when cut into a pancho and a dress and tied tight with some hay-bale twine.

Not quite 80, but I had a Eddie B 60/40 parka until last year when the zipper died...so did Eddie.
The Cabellas goretex was put to the ultimate test, sometimes daily during winter on the coast. As a working Park Ranger.
From morning trash to RR to lake patrol, docks etc. Hunted the red fir to redwood forests.
Have a post Nam poncho in my pack...

Checked Marmot this morning and they have some decent looking and high rated rain gear with a couple colors that don't make me puke. They even still have goretex. Love their sleeping bags.

But looking @modern now a go-go stuff on the pc..........and reviews.
Just wondering if they swish. I hate swishy clothes. Loud in sound and color.

Sorry for the hijack on elk subject. Came up 1st on search.
I have the elk situation under control, locally. No over the Mtns and through the woods with a pack. Been there, done that.
