oregons new eastern oregon unit change for 2026

I haven't applied for any Oregon tag since 2014. Not even my landowner tags. There's fewer deer every year. I will pick up a damage cow tag if it looks like there's a chance.

Your unit used to have some tremendous deer herds 70 to 80% decline since they outlawed hunting cougars with hounds in that area.

Yes, it's a sad situation to witness, much more serious than many realize.

Im picking on odfw a little, they didn’t outlaw hound hunting, folks in the willamette valley, Portland down to Eugene did). There is substantial science that there are other mitigating factors as well. Cougars are simply a part of the problem.

I’m not a huge fan of how the new boundaries are laid out but I think the shakeup helped me. I applied for Juntura 03 muzzleloader deer hunt with 0 points and drew with what I thought was a l pretty weak position based on seed numbers.
