I turned 75 this May and officially moved into Geezer-hood! I drew a Wyoming bull tag after 12 years of applying. I spent the spring and summer working on getting into realistic shape for a 75 year old. I had planned on using my Kimber 270 for the hunt but I received a new rifle for my 75th birthday. It is a Sako 90 hunter in 30/06 so that is what I took on my hunt. The cliff note version of the hunt are as follows: 1) I used an outfitter, 2) I took the bull on the evening of the second day, 3) saw lots of elk, 4) shooting practice paid off with a 350 yard shot, 5) the old cartridge preformed flawlessly,) the outfitter is outstanding, and fintempImageuYn1ky.jpgally this hunt fulfilled a tempImageuYn1ky.jpglife long dream.

Congratulations! That was an awesome shot on an outstanding bull. I hope you have wall space to show this beauty off. You should be real proud of yourself after 12 years applying. Thanks for sharing!

Congrats! Great bull! Any pics of the rifle!? Been eyeing those Sako 90's since they were released, probably spring for the peak if I can decide on caliber, .30-06 is a strong contender for my style of hunting. Is yours 1:11 or 1:10? Will you change your handle to 30-06elk now?

I think Sako uses a 1:11 twist. I really don't care, it is very accurate with anything I put through it. I was using a 165 Swift Scirocco which is devastating. Nope, I am a 270 guy.tempImagedLwuOX.jpgtempImagedLwuOX.jpg

Beautiful rig. Did the brake come with the rifle?

They have historically been 1:11 and threaded 15x1 when threaded from factory but I see they’ve gone to 1:10 and 5/8x24. I agree I am unsure it matters much, just curious.
