Old Log Cabins & Pioneer Barns - Pictures.

Please post your pictures of old log cabins and pioneer barns.

I enjoy looking at these vintage structures, especially their construction materials and construction methods including the log joints, chinking, and shingle roofing. The old growth forests are long gone in America but still survive in the logs and beams utilized to build decaying relics.

Pictured below is an old, abandoned log cabin and settlement I ran across while hunting and canoeing in the Missouri River Breaks of Montana.

Old stone structure on property I own in MT. As you can see, a former owner began some renovations, but didn’t get too far. I have no idea how long it’s been there.

I love finding old homesteads, here's a couple that I've snaped pictures in front of. Again, I wish I'd take more pictures of the many things I see in the wild!

On my daughter's first duck hunt, it wasn't really hunting, we were just really having fun but the world's smallest duck made a mistake that morning. According to the land owner, this cabin was home for a family of 7 in the early 1900s.


This one is near one of my favourite hunting spots. I was talking to a co-worker about it and to my surprise, he told me exactly where it was and said that it was where his mother was born. My wife shot a bull moose not too long after this picture was taken!

A few forgotten cabins in the Sierra Madres.



My great grandfather built this cabin that was later repurposed into a barn on our family’s ranch somewhere around 1903. My grandmother was born here.

This old cabin is in eastern Arizona. Inside are the remains of the old bed also made from cedar logs.

I’m always taking pics of old buildings. Some of my favorites are on film, but I have a couple on my phone. These are in Coolidge.

My Great-grandfather with lots of help from a bunch of Norwegians built this barn back in 1918. I have been doing repairs to the stone work the last few years. I can not imagine how much work it must have been to build. Some where I have better pictures of just the barn, and not my son with some big elk sheds.

This shack is in the Ruby's of NV. The walls are about 2 feet thick so I'm sure whoever lived there was ready for anything winter had in store. I found it during an August archery hunt and it was quite cool inside.

That's awesome that it's still in the family. Pretty rare anymore unfortunately.
