I'm in the proses of making an airboat to hunt and some fishing with.
It'll be a mini, about 13' and powered with a VW bug motor and a catamaran style hull.
Hope to use it on ice , snow, and gravel, as well as water.
Any other Mini airboaters on Board ?
I can always use insight and information :eek::D

Not really answering your question, but my first experience on an air boat was last November on the Gulf Coast of Florida, fishing near Crystal River (caught Red Drum and Speckled Trout). That was one LOUD s.o.b. We had to wear heavy duty ear protection. I'm not a motor head (a canoe is more my style) and would not want to see these things everywhere, but I have to confess it was fun. And not *as* hard on the manatees.

I hunted out of Rockport, TX yesterday morning for Ducks in an Airboat. This was a huge mother and we had about a 30 minute ride across the marsh where we were skimming across 6-8 inches of water. I could see no other way of getting to where we hunted without one. The guide also uses it for Redfish. So yes they have their place, but my wife would kill me if I came home with a $75,000 airboat!
