Nov 3 - Independents’ Day?

I dont want any party. That's literally the problem.
I just think you assigning too much power to party and not enough to the voter. I get it though. Illinois isn’t exactly centrist.

Back to the topic. Big Fin said both parties are attacking Bodnar. How? Where? Bankhead has no money. High profile Democrats in the state are doing fundraising FOR him. I’m not sure what kind of attacks are still occurring. That said, I can’t explain how Bankhead stills gets 20% polling other than Dems in the state act like sheep same as republicans. The whole thing is fascinating.

I just feel like when you have to identify ny party thats when things go sideways. Becomes more like a spectator sport.

Everyone is being attacked by everyone or by their supporters. I can't say I pay attention who paid for the ads or mail. We get mail and tv ads almost continuously. Yes, even mail several times a week. I suppose the attacks are on radio, too, but I haven't listened to regular radio this political season. There are a few positive ads. It probably depends on your perspective if they are positive or not.

I guess we'll see how effective they are ... or not.

Follow what’s being published by the most ardent Montana Ds and some of the Montana Democratic party leadership and you’ll see it. I’m talking beyond paid ads and fliers. Check out their social media accounts.

I love the thought of an independent politician or even an R or a D that will honestly work across the aisle because as was eluded to in the podcast you aren’t ever going to agree with someone 💯 of the time. Like most of you I’m tired of hearing reports say 90% of public comments were opposed to X but yet our elected officials walk step for step, hand in hand with the money they took from special interests. It seems every year a R or a D gets sent to Washington on the promise of draining the swamp but by the end of their first term they are the biggest swamp monster in the moss.

Our great Iowa Senator, third in line for the presidency, just took out papers for reelection in the next cycle. He will be 101 when that term ends. He probably won’t be contested.

Can we get a ballot petition to remove political party designations from ballots?

I don’t follow social media. Those people are crazy. 🤪
State party officials are often at odds with the National party. Entropy rules. This seems to be one of those times. The Republican party in WA is the same dumpster fire. The National party completely ignores them.

For what purpose? So other voters have to do due diligence on candidates instead of voting by default party? Most voters don’t have the time or energy to do that work when voting for a dozen different positions and all the other initiatives on the ballot. I assume it is overwhelming for a lot of people, which explains how we got to where we are.

In my WA voter pamphlet I get a lot of labels of Non-partisan, like all court positions, which should be neutral. The others say “prefers Republican Party” or “prefers Democrat”. I have never understood that, but whatever. If you read the statements without knowing anything they all sound the same. Pro family, pro working class, pro public safety, work for you, etc. I think “party” is used (incorrectly, but still used) as a filter to ensure there was a vetting process. For a lot of these people there isn’t one.

Example: We get people like Goodspaceguy, who has run under every party and even made up a few of his own. (Note: I didn’t see him in the pamphlet this year. Hope he is ok).
