Im going to be working on a job for the next few months near Baker City, Oregon and would like to get in some shore fishing for various species along sections of the Snake River, Columbia, or John Day. I personally like catching smallmouth, walleye, and catfish. Seems like most of the walleye fishing requires a boat, but are there any tailwaters that can be productively fishing from the bank/shore? Secondly, was wondering if there are many raccoons to chase with hounds in that area? I know western oregon has tons of coons/bears.

If I can help for any direction on the poor hunting or good warm water fishing in Montana feel free to ask. Thanks Preston

Phillips resivour, powder river down near the snake, lower Grande Ronde near the Washington state line. Lot of fishing along Brownle on the snake. Middle to lower John Day has great small mouth fishing. Wallowa river for bows and steelhead. Wallowa lake for Kokanee, you can easy rent a skiff there. Upper Imnaha later on after the snow melt for bull trout. Hike into the Eagle caps for a weekend, lot of brook trout.

Thanks, much appreciated and sounds like good fisheries. It's in a part of the country I've never worked in. I did spend 5 months in western Oregon but didn't have time to fish.

I'm 40 miles east of Baker City just a few miles from the launch ramp on the Powder River Arm of Brownlee. I can take you out on the reservoir and also show you shore fishing areas. I usually start fishing for smallmouth and crappie in April but have caught them in March also. A little early for cats but we could try. I operated Brownlee Charters for 20 years and do pretty good. Some good trout fishing reservoirs near Baker also.

Wow, much appreciated. I've read depending on water levels crappie can be great in Brownlee. Im going to be working near Vale to LaGrande most of this spring-fall, so I will be in that area. I do have a 10 ft cataraft with a 2.5 hp outboard, which can access spots within a mile or so of the ramp in non-windy, calm waters, or floating rivers. I will keep you all posted on when I arrive in Union. Thanks Preston

Golden oppurtunity right there @Pagosa. I dont think I'd pass up fishing with @Brittany Chukarman. Not a chance.

Nick, if you ever come out this way I'd be glad to take you and your family out.
Preston, that little cataraft will give you some real good options. I know just where to show you for bass and crappie as well as some trout reservoirs.

We’ll be in Tucson for another couple of weeks, then working our way back to Oregon. We live right around where you’re setting up. Keep in touch.

Will do, I really appreciate the direction and help. It's appears Oregon and Idaho really manage their fisheries well, but not so much for big game? Montana is very similar, we have some great warm/cool water fishing.

I should be arriving in mid March and my personal number is 406-210-1697 if you guys every want to meet up. I work 6/12s but always available on Sundays. Thanks
