North Park Moose

Dad and I leave tomorrow to get a couple scout days in before his north park cow moose tag starts. Haven’t been in that country since 2020 and looking forward to being there again.

Any stories, pics from this fall to share of your time in the north park units-161, 171, 6, 16, 17?

My wife and I go there during the rut to watch moose. This year, we watched a cow down below a hill we parked on until sunset. We decided to go see if she was still there the next morning, 3 guys were breaking her down. I guess in a sense she was still there, just not how my wife expected lol. Drove down the road and watched 3 more cows, no shortage of moose in North Park

A bull tag there is my dream tag. This bull was from those units.

Cow moose were everywhere. Infestation!!! Lol

We watched a herd of beef cows surround a cow moose. It really put into perspective just how big they are, made the heifers look like dogs

North Park (171) - 29 Sep to 11 Oct 2025 - I scouted for 2 days, hunted for 10 - saw zero "antlerless moose" but saw several bulls, all closer than 200 yards

We had an amazing trip, our second hunt in North Park…learned a lot of new country as dads tag was valid for several of those units. It was time well spent and I am so proud of the effort dad and our group put in scouting before the season and during the hunt but leaving CO, his cow tag was still unfilled.

We saw almost as many bulls as we did cows. Saw a couple lone cows on private and Dad passed on a couple cows with young calves and the one opportunity during the season on a calf less cow, he wasn’t satisfied with his rest and when making a move to get a more solid position, the cow took off. We scouted 3 days prior to 3rd season and hunted HARD for the first five days before family obligations 17 hours away necessated us getting home. No regrets but it was much more difficult than we had anticipated for a cow. Had we been able too make it out for 1st or 2nd season, I wonder if it would have been easier.

Despite the unfilled tag, it sounds like you had a great hunt. I am glad you got to spend time with your dad.
