Thanks Cap, I worked in Billings a few months ago on a project, but I made a point to fly into Bozeman (sight see and shopping) and then rent a car and drive to Billings. I told the wife that we will probably retire and move to Bozeman.

Well, look me up if you do. When are you shooting for a move?

It will be a while man, Im 35 she is 30 and almost finished with her Doctorate's. Our plan which is looking good at the moment is ill retire when Im 50 and she is talking about maybe working till 60. Still a wayyyyyyyys out but exciting as hell though.

Awesome! Keep dreaming and planning! Hopefully Bozeman will be a place you will still want to move to when you’re ready as it is changing at the speed of light right now.

Evening I’m a 31 year veteran AZ LEO who got hooked on everything turkey hunting and heading to Reserve NM for this year spring hunt. In seeing you at one time reside there what’s your thoughts. This will be my first NM hunt and from what I’ve seen Gila National Forest in this area looks like it could be excellent. Was planning on either heading towards Eagle Peak or Rancho Grande. Any help or just encouragement appreciated.

Thank you, here the areas I've considered spending some time hunting in April; Pueblo Park, Leggitt, Luna and road heading out to Eagle Peak, including Tularosa River area. What is your thoughts, I hear there are birds in all, but never set foot this fare away and being a solo hunter who comes prepared, driving a 4x4 older tundra and disperse camps, would have liked to hear from someone local with boots on the ground intel (if I have the time I'll drive out to scout). Conditions of the forest roads, like heading out to Eagle Peak, or even west of Rancho Grande, Leggitt area. I use OnX and everything looks great but looks and reality is something else, like heading into be some rough terrain and if my truck is too large or not permitted, well then, I rather spend more time somewhere else. Also, with most areas being very remote I'd consider camping closer to the main highways and traveling in if things are willie nelly maybe staying near the Tularosa River Bottom.

Truely appreciates suggestions or assistance.

I am not the guy to ask about turkeys. I have only hunted them once with no success. I am not real familiar with these areas. I am far East corner. However, I was recently around Tularosa hunting Oryx and would highly caution you about going off the main road if it is very wet at all. It becomes a slick mess around that area. As far as the size of your vehicle, there should be a map somewhere, maybe even onX, that will show vehicular size requirements for trails. Sorry, I know that isn't much assistance.

no thank you, truly appreciate the info. Like AZ weather will play a big factor where I decide to travel. If you know anyone that's willing to share pass me on, I know how hard sharing is and I get it, not looking for honey holes just more about realistic expectations, traveling and safety
