So. I’ve been taking my lovely wife hunting for several years. She’s drawn a cow tag, and an either sex tag that run concurrently. Been shooting for most of the summer, it’s getting consistent. I drew… nada, nothing, nothing, zip in the first draw here in Idaho, so, why not,donate to the state again, look, a cow muzzloader tag in the same unit. And deer doe black powder is open the same time.

I’ve managed a long weekend with no obligations, threw a bunch of stuff on the garage floor and I’m gonna scout for three days with a frontsuffer in my hand and see if I can figure out where critters are using now, and hopefully will move onto by October.

2 questions, do y’all see anything I missed and,

Failing that, anybody wanna show my wife what a deer or elk looks like on the hoof in late October?

All your "possibles" like bullet puller, patch remover if round ball. The stuff that drives you crazy when you need it.

What MZ? .50? .54? Sidelock? Just curious.

Last few years I carry 4-6 loads in vacuum pack to insure completely dry as emergency backup.

It’s just an old Cva inline 50. Classic maxiballs from tc. Decided not to mess with more traditional rifles for this hunt. There’s a box with all the possible shtuff in it, hoping that having it means I don’t need it. I think I’ve got 4 quick loaders I’ll put in a ziplock bag on my bino harness.

Just my experience but I shot a bull with some maxi balls pulled one out of him could have shot it out of the gun again highly unimpressed. I’d highly recommend looking into no excuses later for it

There may be newer options. Doesn't make them better! Your load will floor an elk, how much better does it get?
