I drew early archery elk tags for both states (2 in NM and 49 in CO) and am looking to get some decent quality maps that show water, etc. I know OnX is a big deal but for whatever reason, I just haven't really been able to incorporate online maps into my hunt planning and I like to have a hard copy out in the field. Appreciate any insight you can share.

Lots of options. I use OnX

But you can get custom waterproof maps made. They are very expensive generally. Example: Rugged Maps

You can buy forest or BLM maps or USGS quads.

You can also make custom PDF maps of custom areas using free online tools and print them on waterproof paper. Example: CalTopo

I’d suggest getting used to OnX or another digital map system. Paper is nice for a backup but digital is far more convenient and powerful.

Just my thoughts
