Newest US Senate Land Sale Amendment

I honestly have no idea what can be done or not, but it seems like there’s no end to what can be done in the name of an “emergency” these days.
I agree, but furthermore I think there can be a stronger argument that affordable housing is an "emergency" than that there is an "invasion" of borders that threatens national security, so "emergency" ICE and military action is required to deport all brown skinned persons.

Hopefully President Trump recognizes the overwhelming opposition to selling public lands and concentrates on other Republican goals.

Like releasing the Epstein files?

Didn't see that you had posted this when I posted. Trump isn't the reason Tillis isn't seeking reelection, he's the nail in the coffin. I mentioned yesterday that I didn't think his internals were looking good. He's not been a popular senator during his time in office. He was already going to have a really tough time winning his seat back next year. Throw in a primary challenge to make his base fragment some more and he had no shot of winning.
Certainly might be the case. I doubt there is a list of reasonable, honest, highly-principled people sitting around ready to jump on Trump's call to primary him. If the rest of the country is any indication, I will bet you get pushed further to the extremes. There is an abundance of crazy.

Don't wish to rain on this celebratory parade of posts .... but this Presidential expression of gratitude causes concern. The transactional quid pro quo nature of this Administration is widely agreed upon, now to the extent there may be forthcoming maybe not immediate, but soon, an Oval Office Executive Order to sell some public lands and to further "DOGE" deferred maintenance and routine support of other public lands. 'Just sayin' be vigilant.
Agree 100%. Lee got something. The question is what.

The flag at my house reads Defend Public Lands. I've always given Randy kudos for public land advocacy and leadership, always will. He wouldn't be as much a leader without all of you. Have to say today how overwhelmed, impressed and grateful I am to each of you who are working for this. Work that is reflected by the positive movement on this vital issue. When you post here about your efforts it inspires me and others. Those that are working on this without posting, we can tell you are out there in the fight, so much appreciated. This fight reminds me why our country is uniquely great and who keeps it so. When my truck tires leave the pavement, hiking past a trailhead sign, even bushwhacking to get away from other users, I sense you all around: holding up our public lands.
Inspired, grateful, impressed, wowed, heartened, indebted, motivated, enriched, moved. Three cheers for each and every one of you who opposed this. @Big Fin, I don't have words.

Tomorrow let's be as focused on thanking those who said Hell No, as we were asking them to do so.

Fair enough. But I believe it’s prudent to stay suspicious of anyone who sings Mike Lee’s praises even tangentially with regard to public lands, regardless of last name. 🤷🏻‍♀️

No matter how it’s dressed up, Lee will never be benign to public lands, their funding, or their management.
Yea, Mikey needs to go. He is… well, let’s say it: “Greedy scum”.
He will continue to pursue this until he is out of office.

Mscarl, I'm not sure what you think is humorous about that. ???

I've been in this business almost twenty years and have never seen a grassroots movement mobilize so quickly and get so big. Two weeks ago, there wasn't one R senator that'd speak out on this. When @Big Fin pulled Fresh Tracks and OYOA together, reckon he'd crystal balled this? Lotta folks to thank for their leadership, but Randy's at the top of the list. He was years ahead of everybody else and made it a safe space for others to use their platforms to speak out when we needed em most.

That sounds like a Liberal political hit piece to me.

Wyoming experienced the worst forest fires in their written history last year.
They also experienced their three largest wildfires (prairie fires)… but that is another discussion.

The forest fires burned out of control largely due to limited or no access to large swaths of forested lands.

Forest roads enable fire breaks, clearing efforts, dead tree/brush removal and fire suppression access.
Keep in mind that these are very promitive two-tracks and they are not proposing building highways through there.

Some of Wyomings most protected lands are also those that have gas and oil activities on them.
It provides income return for those lands… which happen to allow recreational use.

Fire is a natural and important component of healthy forests.

You are correct. However we have a fuels problem in alot of areas where the exclusion of fire lead to a build up of fuel now contributes to extreme fire behavior, giant stand replacing fires that dont create a natural fire mosaic. We need to have a better fuels and prescribed fire program on our public lands.

Ya, he knows the Big Ugly Bill is going to kick over 600k North Carolina residents off of their health care. Apparently Thom can’t stomach screwing over his own constituents anymore. Won’t stand up to take his party back. Just quit.
Question> are those residents you refer to citizens of the USA
