The silver lining to Lee's stupidity is that this could effectively put this issue to bed for at least a few more administrations. One can hope, anyway.

I think that plenty of clueless law makers and talking heads are getting a solid education on how important public land is to people.

Public land within 5 miles of population centers = the places folks hunt and hike, where agriculture relies on public lands, wintering ground, etc.

He’s mandating sprawl and selling our public land within amorphous language once again.

I’m not sure, but it could mean no foreign ownership. I saw that as one criticism of his proposal - that foreign entities could buy up more American property.

I was told by Senator Daines this was a possibility, once the Byrd Rule was applied. If so, it will be up to Senate Majority Leader, Senator Thune, as to whether or not to override the Parliamentarians’ decision.

The Byrd Rule as mentioned in that image, applies to any budget bill in the Senate. It prevents senators from circumventing the 60 vote filibuster for non-budget legislation.

Given the shitstorm Lee has created and how quickly Lee is throwing out new proposals this evening, I suspect Lee knows that Thune will not override this decision. And if so, Lee’s entire scheme is up in smoke.

I didn’t post this, as I wanted to wait until tomorrow when it would be in black and white, from the Senate Parliamentarian. Since it’s already out in the domain, I decided to add these thoughts above.

Fingers crossed that when the official report is issued tomorrow that such reports are true. If so, I would be very surprised if Thune overrides the decision and lets Lee have his way.

And if that is the outcome, all of you who called Senators did an amazing job of using your voices to get your Senators to encourage Senator Thune that the decision should remain.

And if so, Mike Lee has caused one of the biggest public land shitstorms of my life, with nothing to show for it besides a 3XL asshat.

Thanks Randy for all the time, effort and work you do to inform the communities this would effect and getting people off the couch and involved. Knowing Lee's history, doubt this will stop him from trying to keep pushing this cart up the hill every chance he gets. Hope he never finds a way. Still concerned he'll find ways to chip away at it even if he fails this go round.

Nah, and he also never says any difference in acreage, meaning what this really does is transfer the 3.5 million acres to BLM lands which consists of a hell of a lot of vital mule deer winter range habitat, migration corridors, and hunting grounds.
